Set sail for a relaxing trip to the Caribbean islands.  With over 200 acres, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort is the largest resort on the property.  Set on a 45 acre lake, Barefoot Bay, this resort is a nice departure from everyday hectic like to the relaxing spirit of the Caribbean.   The moderate-tiered resort offers 2,109 set in six villages that represent an island found in the Caribbean – Martinique, Barbados, Jamaica, Aruba, Trinidad North and Trinidad South with each area having its own pool.  Guests are surrounded by swaying palm trees, tropical birds, a colorful marketplace and plenty of sand for a relaxing stroll.

Being one of the moderate resorts, the Caribbean Beach resort offers more upscaled amenities than the value-tiered resorts do.  The Old Port Royale Centertown is home to Shutters –  a table-service restaurant, a food court, and arcade and two gift shops. The resort also features several water sports at the marina where various water crafts life paddle boats, sailboats and speed boats can be rented.  The shores of Barefoot Bay feature white sand beaches will plenty of hammocks to relax and unwind in.  A bridge takes guests the Caribbean Cay, an island in the middle of Barefoot Bay that offers guests several secluded sports to relax as well as a play area for kids.

Caribbean Beach Resort Rooms

The rooms at the Caribbean Beach are approximately 300 sq. ft, a little bit small than other moderate resorts that come in around 314 sq.  ft.  And, unlike other moderate resorts, the Caribbean Beach has 2 double beds (instead of queens) or one king sized bed.  Maximum capacity for each room is 4, or 2 in a king bed room.  Each room features brightly colored tropical theming with a hint of characters from Disney Pixars Finding Nemo and offer a small refrigerator, nightstand, wall mirror, armoire, table and 2 chairs, an open closet area, wall safe (large enough to hold a laptop) and a vanity with a double sink that is separate from the bathroom area so guests can get ready while another showers.

Room categories at the Caribbean Beach Resort include Standard View, Water View, King Bed, and Preferred Rooms.  Preferred rooms are located the closest to Old Port Royale Centertown and can be found in the Martinique and Trinidad north areas of the resort.  Pirate-themed rooms, taking hints from the Pirates of the Caribbean movie, are also available at an additional cost. Pirate rooms offer standard views and water views and feature headboards designed to look like pirate ships complete with wood barrel nightstands.

Dining

Shutters at Old Port Royale – Set sail for the tropics for island-inspired cuisine at Shutters.  This relaxed atmosphere and open dining room is great for a family dinner.  Shutters opens at 5:00 pm every night and is situated perfectly to view the IlluniNations: Reflections of Earth fireworks extravaganza either from the outdoor area or from indoor window seating.  Enjoy seafood, steaks, pasta and other tropical fare.  Click here for complete menu.

Old Port Royale Food Court – Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, this quick-service restaurant offers a variety of foods to please any pirate. Stroll through cobblestone streets in this colorful marketplace under a dusk sky. Choose from pizzas, burgers, soups, salads, pastas and more for an island of flavors. Guests can choose from stations like Old Port Royale Hamburger Shop, Bridgetown Broiler, Grab-N-Go Market, Royale Pizza & Pasta Shop and Montego’s Deli.

Banana Cabana Pool Bar – Located at the main pool, Fuentes del Morro – located outside Old Port Royale, guests can enjoy specialty tropical drinks and the marina view. Try the Banana Cabana, Piña CoLAVA, Caribbean limeade or the house specialty, the Goombay Smash. Beer, wine, sangria and a full bar are also available.

In-Room Pizza Delivery – Order an easy meal the whole family will enjoy and have it delivered directly to your room.  Pizzas, wings, desserts and beverage are delivered right to your door from 5:00 pm to 1:00 am.

Amenities

Pools – Themed like a colonial spanish fortress, the main pool at the Caribbean Beach resort, Fuentes del Morro Pool, offers a large zero-entry pool complete with 2 watersides and sprays from the man-o-war cannons.  Young swashbucklers can play in the shipwreck area with mini watersides, a crows nest and a barrel of laughs that provides a drenching and fun downpour of water.

There are also two 12-person hot tubs that offer a relaxing place after a busy day with cocktails from the nearby Banana Cabana pool bar.

Each one of the villages also offer smaller and much quieter pools for those who prefer to relax and unwind.

Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Mini Golf – Located in close proximity to the Caribbean Beach resort are two 18-hole mini golf courses themed after the famed Fantasia movie. Putt around whimsical scenes with tutu-clad hippos, dancing broomsticks and other characters from the film.  Perfect for family fun and beginning golfers.  Pricing for adults (age 10 and up) is $14.00 and children (age 3-9 is $12.00)

Islands of the Caribbean Pirate Cruise – Specifically for pirates ages 4 – 12, young buccaneers board spirited vessels and sail to exotic ports of call – resort marinas – while they hears the legends of Old Port Royale, its pirate past and discover clues that leave to the treasure.  This cruise departs from Barefoot Bay Marina and is only for young swashbucklers, leaving a little downtime for parents.  Cruises are available from 9:30 am to 11:30 am on Sunday, Tuesday and Friday.  Pricing is $37.00 per child.

Caribbean Beach Campfire Activities – Gather ’round the campfire with your entire family for stories and roasted marshmallows.

Volleyball – Add a little “spike” to your life with a fun game of volleyball at the beachside court at the Martinique village. Volleyballs can be checked out at the marina by guests with a valid resort ID.

Jogging Trail – Enjoy a scenic run or walk along the 1.4-mile promenade that circles tranquil Barefoot Bay.

Guided Fishing Excursions – Have some reel fun on a 2-hour or 4-hour  catch-and-release excursion where you can experience bass fishing at its finest.  this year-round excursion includes:

• an experienced fishing guide
• rod and reel
• artificial and live bait
• tackle
• 1 year BASS (Bass Anglers Sportsman Society) membership, which includes 11 issues of Bassmaster Magazine

Bicycle Rentals – Enjoy a leisurely bike outing around the 1.4 mile promenade around Barefoot Bay. Both adult and children’s bikes are available – even bikes with training wheels. Bikes are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, and helmets and child seats are complimentary with bike rentals.

**Florida law requires bicyclists under 16 years of age to wear helmets, and Guests must remain within the Resort area where the bike has been rented.

Surrey Bike Rentals – Ride a bike the whole family can enjoy.  Guests can rent a 2-person, 4-person or 6-person surrey bike and pedal around the promenade.  Surrey bikes rentals are available at the marina.

Goombay Games Arcade – This arcade located in Old Port Royale Centertown offers state-of-the-art video games and air hockey for kids’ enjoyment. The games require a Game Card that can be obtained at the kiosk in the arcade, are rechargeable and can be used at other Disney resorts.  Guests with a Magic Your Way package receive 100 credits for gaming. Some of the games in the Goombay Games Arcade reward players with tickets that can be redeemed for prizes.

Shopping

Calypso Straw Market – Located on the far side of the Old Port Royale Centertown, this small shop carries character merchandise, souvenirs, key chains, plush animals snacks and drinks.

Calypso Trading Center – Adorned with the Pirates of the Caribbean movie theme, the main shop at the Caribbean Beach resort carries all of your favorite Disney wares – apparel and accessories, food  and spirits, gifts, housewares and decor, Mickey Ears, pins and vinylmation and various toys.

Services

Disney Bus Transportation – The Caribbean Beach Resort offers 8 bus stops – outside Old Port Royale, Trinidad North, Trinidad South, Jamaica, Aruba, Barbados, Martinique and at the Custom House – and transports guests to the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios and the Animal Kingdom.  The buses also transport guests to Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon and Downtown Disney.  Guests that are trying to get to the Boardwalk area will either have to board a bus that is heading towards a park or Downtown Disney and transfer to a Boardwalk marked bus.

The Caribbean Beach resort also offers an internal shuttle for its guests to get around the extensive property.  The internal shuttle circles the entire resort with stops that include the Old Port Royale Centertown for the food court, the pool area, shopping and the arcade.  It also makes stops at the Custom House for check in/out.
