Stepping into the China Pavilion is like stepping back in time into one of the world’s oldest civilizations. Discover the wonders of China as you wander through the peaceful gardens and reflecting pools, sample authentic cuisine such as Dim Sum or General Tsao’s chicken, and soar over the majestic scenery during the Reflections of China, a 360º CircleVision film that explores China’s history, scenery and it’s people.
As you enter the pavilion through the large paifang gate, you will see the courtyard that is dominated by a replica of the “Temple of Heaven” found in Bejing. Even though the three-tiered circular Hall of Prayer is half the size of its counterpart, the architectural details remain the same.
Inside the hall you will find 12 outer columns that not only support the roof but hold great significance to the Chinese people. The outer columns represent the 12 months of the year and the 12-year cycle of the Chinese calendar. The 4 interior columns represent the four seasons and support a beam that represents the Earth which is then topped by another beam that represents Heaven.
