My quick trip last month to Walt Disney World afforded me a shopping trip to the Downtown Disney area and a chance to check out the progress of all the construction. As Downtown Disney transitions to the re-imagined Disney Springs, the new additions and changes are quickly coming to life. Let’s take a look at what’s new on the Village Causeway.
First things first…..The Village Causeway bridge is open and it’s a wonderful addition to the Marketplace area. With its wonderful brick walkway, the bridge connects the area near The LEGO Store going across the water to Rainforest Café. Not only is it a quick shortcut across the waterway, it is also becoming a very popular place for photos and sunset viewing, as well as a little shopping.
Along the causeway, several new kiosks offering unique finds will catch your attention and are worthy of a stop.
Flour & Sugar sells “Florida Inspired Cookies” with flavors from cities and towns around the Sunshine State. Baked in Florida with love, savor the flavors Toasted Coconut Key Lime from South Beach, the Strawberry Blend Shortcake cookie representing Plant City, home to Florida’s famous Strawberry Festival or even the Siesta Key’s tropical Key Lime S’mores.
Guests can purchase a single cookie for $3.50 or a half-dozen cookie tube for $18.00 and they make a great take home item or nice snack to carry in the parks!
The Florida Bath Co. features Florida themed bath products and the colorful displays caught my eye immediately. This kiosk sells bath products such as bath bombs, salts and bath soaps that are handcrafted with organic juices and essential oils. For those of you who are fans of Basin, the products found at the Florida Bath Co. and by the same people. All of the items at the Florida Bath Co. are priced at $5.99 for a single items or 5 for $25.00 allowing guests to indulge in affordable luxuries.
Icon Jewellrey by Bico also graces the Village Causeway with it’s wonderful pieces that are crafted from hand-polished fine pewter and adorned with materials such as Swarovski Crystals, New Guinea Rosewood and fine leathers. With concepts such as Power and Strength, Love and Friendship and Creativity and Inspiration, guest can customize their pieces to suit their own style.
The last of the cute free-standing shops along the Village Causeway is Kate & Leo. Kate & Leo offers travel games and beautiful artistic items that evoke imagination and creativity in kids of all ages. Get those creative juices flowing with some of Kate & Leo’s unique finds and the best part, batteries are not required for any of the items sold.
Tomorrow, we will take a look at some of the new shops that have opened at the West Side of the Downtown Disney area such as the Art of Shaving and Sanuk. Be sure to come back to see what’s new and exciting as Downtown Disney moves closer to being Disney Springs.
