Video Shows Filming has Begun on Star Wars: Episode VIII

LucasFilms officially announced that filming has begun on Star Wars: Episode VIII and also announces a new additions to the cast.

Disney and Lucasfilm have confirmed that principal photography for the next chapter of the Star Wars saga, Star Wars: Episode VIII, has officially begun at Pinewood Studios in London on February 15, 2016. Written and directed by Rian Johnson, this highly anticipated sequel continues the storylines introduced in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and promises to follow in JJ Abrams footsteps.

Returning cast members include Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Bodega, Oscar Isaac and Lupita Wyong’o.  New cast members will include Academy Award winner Benicia Del Toro, Academy Award nominee Laura Dern, and newcomer Kelly Marie Tran.  Star Wars: Episode VIII is produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman and executive produced by J.J. Abrams, Jason McGatlin, and Tom Karnowski.

While no story details have been released at this time and the new characters haven’t been announced either, Disney and Lucasfilm did release a teaser announcement video for Star Wars: Episode VIII that shows Luke Skywalker meeting Rey for the first time on his secluded island.




Star Wars: Episode VIII is scheduled for release December 15, 2017 already creating anticipation.
