Magic Kingdom Park is the heart and soul of Walt Disney World Resort and was the first part of the Florida Project on Walt Disney’s plans in the late 60s. Spanning 107 acres, Magic Kingdom Park opened October 1, 1971 with 23 attractions – 3 of which were unique to the park and 20 were carbon copies of those found at Disneyland Resort in California.

The iconic Cinderella Castle is the centerpiece of the park, reaching 189 feet into the beautiful blue skies of central Florida, and is one of the most photographed architectural structures in the world. Known as “The Most Magical Place On Earth,”  the park is divided into six beautifully themed lands that offer attractions to suit every age:

Main Street, U.S.A. Area: Two blocks of charming storefronts modeled after Walt Disney’s hometown of Marceline, Missouri that represents America at the turn of the century with shopping, restaurants, a train depot and a town hall. Step back in a time and place where Walt Disney spent his childhood days.

Adventureland Area:  When you cross the bridge into Adventureland Area, you enter into an exotic land with wild animals, pirates and a mix of jungles from the far off regions of Africa, the Caribbean, Asia and Polynesia.  Take in the sounds of African drums and Caribbean beats as you enjoy the lush landscaping.

Frontierland Area:  Step back in time as the wild west comes to life along the banks of the Rivers of America with rocks and buttes reaching into the spacious sky, rustic log cabins and remnants of a booming mining town.  Listen to the sounds of the harmonica humming a country tune from across the river as you venture on Tom’s Sawyer’s Island.

Liberty Square Area: Themed after colonial America, Liberty Square Area is Americana circa 1776.  Presiding over the square is the Hall of Presidents Attraction, a replica of the Liberty Bell and a majestic Liberty Tree.  Follow the sounds of the wolves off in the distance and you will find one of Magic Kingdom Park’s most famous rides, Haunted Mansion Attraction.

Fantasyland Area: Fantasyland Area is the land of imagination and dreams – a place where you wish upon upon a star, where fairy tales come true, where princes and princesses reside in the land of enchantment and where beloved storybook characters come to life.  All you need is a little faith, trust and pixie dust.

New Fantasyland Area: The largest expansion in the history of the Magic Kingdom Park, taking guest experiences to a new level. Enter The Enchanted Forest for an interactive storytelling experience, dine in the Beast’s enchanted castle, go beneath the waves for an undersea adventure or seek hidden gems in a runaway mine train.

Tomorrowland Area:  A futuristic land where you can travel through space, command your own spacecraft and battle aliens with lasers.  Tomorrowland Area offers  out-of-this-world entertainment with a fun-filled character street dance party, a lounge singing alien and galactic treats sure to please any Space Ranger.


Magic Kingdom Welcome Show
More commonly known as the “Rope Drop,” the Magic Kingdom Park Welcome Show is a daily opening ceremony orchestrated by Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and the gang welcoming their guests to the “Most Magical Place On Earth.”  Performed high above the crowd on the train station platform, the energetic show starts approximately 15-minutes before the Magic Kingdom Park opens.

Dream Along with Mickey A 20-minute live show performed in front of Cinderella Castle several times throughout the day.  Mickey Mouse guides Minnie, Donald, and Goofy that if only you wish hard enough, dreams come true.

Festival of Fantasy Parade – New in 2014, this spectacular parade features the beloved characters from The Little Mermaid, Brave, Tangled, Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty, 26-foot-tall Maleficent in dragon form, Anna and Elsa from Frozen,  Mickey and Minnie on an airship, and more! 

Electrical Water Pageant –  This night-time water parade performed on the Seven Seas Lagoon opened with the resort in October, 1971. Charming sea creatures both mythical and natural light up the lagoon, with a bright green sea monster leading the way! 

Main Street Electrical ParadeDisney’s long-running tradition featuring characters and scenes from films through the use of millions of colorful lights. Fun-loving and feisty, Tinker Bell orchestrates the magic, lighting the way with a wave of her wand. Synchronized to a memorable soundtrack to create this moving 20-minute musical spectacle.

Wishes Fireworks Spectacular Jiminy Cricket and the Blue Fairy celebrate the power of believing in dreams to a medley of well known Disney songs and characters as fireworks explode in the night sky.  This is the biggest fireworks extravaganza in Magic Kingdom Park history.  Blazing rockets light up the sky with brilliant colors of magenta, azure, periwinkle, pink and even pearly whites fill the skies with an incredible display of pyrotechnics Walt Disney World Resort is famous for.
