There are so many things to enjoy outside of the parks during your Walt Disney World Resort vacation. You have all been to the theme parks, and some of you have even splashed in the waters of Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon. But are you aware of the wonderful activities that are available at Walt Disney World Resort? From golf to tennis to water sports, your options are many as a Resort Guest. Two of my most memorable days have been spent on the water.
Pontoon Rentals
An excellent way to relax on the water is with a boat rental, which is exactly what we chose to do. Walt Disney World Resort offers motorized boat rental at several locations throughout the property. We selected a pontoon boat for our time on the water. We wanted a more serene experience than the other boats provide. Once on the boat, we felt alone, even though we were surrounded by the hotels, parks, and other guests. We cruised around, waving at other guests, and truly unwinding from the first half of our hectic and fun week. We disembarked recharged for more theme park fun! Reservations are not required for boat rental. Marinas can be found on both Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon as well as at both the Yacht and Beach Club Resorts.
The Sun Tracker® Pontoon boats seat up to 10 Guests and are $45 per half-hour.
Parasailing
Another interesting way to enjoy time out of the park is actually not in the water but above it! The Sammy Duvall Watersports Centre is based at Disney’s Contemporary Resort and offers a wide array of thrilling watersports activities. Now, let me say now that I do not ski and I am not an adventurous type. My idea of fun was our day lounging on a pontoon boat, but my husband and I were ready for something a bit outside of our comfort zone. The Sammy Duvall Watersports Centre offers a parasailing experience over Bay Lake.
We chose to sail first thing in the morning on the last day of our trip. The weather was perfect, and there was no one else on the water. We chose to each take solo flights rather than the offered tandem sailing. Unlike some other parasailing experiences out there, this experience takes off and lands on the boat deck, so you don’t have to worry about getting wet. While in the air, I had the most spectacular views of Magic Kingdom Park, which was just opening for the day. During my flight, a bald eagle started circling the tow line which added to the magic of the flight. If you are wondering, it is a quiet and calming experience to parasail at Walt Disney World Resort, and it is absolutely an experience I recommend.
Standard 8-10 minute flights are $170.00 per person. Deluxe flights are also available.
There are many other ways to make the most of your Walt Disney World Resort Vacation. Next time you are there, take some time to enjoy all that the resort offers. You may be surprised at the magical memories you make outside of the theme parks!
