Passing the Disney Torch

When I started Mad About the Mouse, it was strictly for fun.  It was a way for me to put a little bit of Disney in my daily life and let’s face it, we all need a little Disney in our lives, right? I literally grew up at the Walt Disney World Resort, and now that I live a good distance away, I don’t get to go every weekend like I used to but I do still need my Disney fix.  It is a lot of fun to share my experiences and pictures as well as the current news. There is always so much going on at all the parks, so there is a lot to share.

This page has grown beyond my expectations and as a result of its growth, I have met a lot of wonderful people along the way. I never expected it to grow as quickly as it has but I am honored you chose to follow along and I enjoy interacting with all of you.  But, all good things must come to an end and in the words of the great Walt Disney, “Times and conditions change so rapidly that we must constantly keep our aim constantly focused on the future.”   I am focused on my future.

Life has taken a huge change for me, a very positive change, and I find myself having less and less time to devote to Mad About the Mouse, which really isn’t fair to those of you who follow this blog and the various social media pages that have spawned from it.   You deserve to have a fun place to get your Disney fix and all the current news.

Many of you know that I recently published Capturing the Magic with my buddies Bill and Eric from Disney Image Makers as well as my friend, Pam.  Capturing the Magic is keeping me extremely busy these days but there are also some very exciting new projects on the horizon that will occupy most of my time in the year to come.

I am excited about what the future holds but also had to take into consideration the virtual baby that I have nursed from the beginning – this fun blog site that celebrates all things Disney.  I considered just shutting it down but struggled with that idea.  I didn’t want it to come to an end but I also needed to have someone I trust to take it over. Then it hit me….I have that in my trusted circle of friends.  So, I have chosen to pass my Disney torch to two of the greatest people I know in the Disney community and my personal friends, Donna Sharick and Bob Aycock.   When I thought about who could take over my blog, handing it over to my friends was a no-brainer.

Donna is not only one of my dearest friends, she is also the owner of Dreams By Design Travel specializing in ALL Disney destinations (and others destinations as well).  Donna has a long history in the travel industry and a tremendous working knowledge of all things Disney.  She has enjoyed 50+ trips to Walt Disney World Resort, many visits to Disneyland Resort, and various cruises. And, most recently, she attended the D23 Expo at Disneyland Resort.  Let me put it this way, Donna is a Disney freak just like me and I can’t imagine a more genuine person to keep you informed on a daily basis.

Bob is the ultimate Disney Dad…with a little touch of magic!  Bob is an alumni of the Disney Parks Moms Panel, which means he was hand-selected by Disney out of thousands of applicants for his knowledge and enthusiasm about the Walt Disney World Resort.  Bob is also the owner of the Magical Daddy blog site, a father of four and a huge Disney fan.  His knowledge is off the charts as well!

I am very confident that Donna and Bob will do an amazing job with the site.  As a matter of fact, Donna has been the one posting news, info and fun things for you for this past week as I have been absolutely inundated with work.  She’s done a great job!

A huge heartfelt thanks goes out to all of you who have made this site so fun for me, who have shared my love of Disney and have made me laugh along the way.  I can’t even begin to tell you how much fun I have had since I created this site.  I will still be around blogging and posting on Facebook when the chance arises, especially with my upcoming family vacation to Disneyland Resort.  It has been 4 long years since I have been there, and I can’t wait to take you all with me.

Until then…I leave you in great hands.
