Summer is quickly coming to a close and it’s time for back to school shopping Disney style!   Some kids are already back in school – my daughter returned to school this week.

Steven Miller, Merchandise Communications Manager for Disney Parks recently spent a morning at Downtown Disney in Walt Disney World Resort searching for back to school shopping ideas. Here is a quick look at some of the items he found for those who want to add a splash of Disney to their backpacks.

World of Disney and Mickey’s Fun Finds at Downtown Disney Marketplace both offered assortments of pens, pencils and other cool school tools.  How cute are the pencils with Mickey heads on the erasers?  They sure do beat the standard yellow #2 pencils we all had to have as a kid! And the Mickey pens…yes, please!

There are some fun apparel items for girls in the Zoey & Pickles boutique inside the Marketplace Co-Op at Downtown Disney Marketplace. They also carried a sweet backpack decorated with images of Mickey Mouse-shaped candies.

Once Upon a Toy store has a new shirt featuring “Miles from Tomorrowland,” the hit Disney Junior animated series.

At Downtown Disney West Side, D-Street had some Oswald the Lucky Rabbit t-shirts, while the Super Hero Headquarters shop carried plenty of apparel options for super heroes of all ages.

At Curl by Sammy Duvall,  he found a small assortment of the popular Disney Vans shoes along with clothing and accessories for girls and boys. Nothing beats a pair of Mickey Vans.  I got mine. Yes, I know I am not going back to school but I had to have them!

Next door, Fit2Run, The Runner’s Superstore, has a perfect selection of athletic footwear and more.

Here’s a quick shopping tip I learned after my visit – all Downtown Disney shops now open at 10:00 a.m. which includes Downtown Disney West Side. This is a great time to visit as parking is usually plentiful and it’s easier to get in and out of shops.
